- Story Text: Ferrari want seven-times world champion Michael Schumacher to work as assistant to team boss Jean Todt although the German, who retired from the sport last week, said he will wait before deciding on his role.
However, Schumacher said he would take his time before making any decision about his future role.
"I don't think that quite now there is any need to exactly specify in great terms how and what", Schumacher told a news conference.
"We have just set, me and Jean, what I'm interested in and particularly where Ferrari feels I can helpful", he added.
"I am pretty sure that even if he won't be inside the car, his experience, his ability will be really useful for Ferrari's future", said Ferrari president Luca Cordero di Montezemolo.
Schumacher said he was looking forward to having a change of rhythm in his life.
"I just want to, first of all, experience a different kind of life and then I want to understand what exactly is what I want", he said.
"I'm so happy that Ferrari gives me this opportunity."
A huge crowd of Ferrari fans turned out at the Monza race track on Sunday (October 29) to say farewell to Schumacher who took to the track with other members of the Ferrari team to salute the supporters for a final time. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
