It's a hit with TV critics and after just two seasons has four Emmy awards. Yet still, "Breaking Bad" is a little seen drama that has less than two million viewers.
"It's so weird because everyone who has seen the show is like Oh My God, this is the best show I've ever seen," says actor Aaron Paul who stars in the drama.
"Then you hear a lot of people are like I hear it's so great, but I've never seen it. And I'm like you should watch it - help us stay on the air," Paul said at a publicity event for the show.
So why all the critical acclaim? This show has the kind of drama fit for the big screen.
When audiences were introduced to science teacher Walter White, he was diagnosed with inoperable cancer and began cooking and selling crystal meth to pay for his medical bills.
Now, Walt's double life is unraveling. His wife has left him and Jesse, his crystal meth partner in crime, has gone into rehab.
Actor Bryan Cranston says season three is about facing reality.
"They can't use the excuse anymore that they are new to this. They have to embrace the dark side of their personalities that they have within them. They are capable of being desperate characters. In order to survive now in this desperate world of thugs and murderers they have to accept who they are and they are bad guys," Cranston said.
Cranston directed the first episode of the season and described the challenge of acting and directing.
"It's an exceptionally challenging position. Specifically coming from an actor's standpoint where your focus is me. What do I need, what does my character want, who is in my character's way sort of thing. When you direct you're concerned about everyone. It's like putting together a 10 thousand piece jigsaw puzzle only you don't have the luxury of seeing the picture on the box."
