- Story Text: After sitting on the shelf for almost two years, Warren Beatty and Diane Keaton's new romantic comedy "Town and Country" is finally ready for release. It boasts an all-star ensemble cast including Goldie Hawn, Garry Shandling, Andie McDowell, Jenna Elfman and Nastassja Kinski.
This film marks two different sets of reunions for co-star Diane Keaton. It's the first time in twenty years she's worked opposite Warren Beatty, her one time romantic partner. They previously collaborated in 1981 on "Reds,"
which won her an Oscar nomination.
"Town and Country" is also Keaton's first chance in five years to work with Goldie Hawn. They first acted opposite each other in the 1996 hit "The First Wives Club."
In this latest collaboration, Keaton and Hawn play wives of another sort: the type who are just coming to terms with their husbands' infidelities. Keaton is married to Beatty's character, a successful architect who has affairs with a musician played by Kinski, a jet-setting heiress played by Andie MacDowell and a free spirited bait and tackle shop owner played by Jenna Elfman.
Hawn is married to Garry Shandling's character, who has some shocking surprises of his own to reveal.
The film is directed by Peter Chelsom, who made his directorial debut on the highly-acclaimed "Hear My Song"
starring Ned Beatty. He also write, produced and directed his next feature called "Funny Bones," starring Jerry Lewis and Oliver Platt. His most recent work was "The Mighty"
co-starring Sharon Stone.
"Town and Country" has actually been finished and sitting on the shelf at New Line Cinema for the past two years, causing some Hollywood analysts to wonder if the film is irreparably damaged and how this fact will affect its performance at the box office.
They'll get their chance to find out now that the film is out in theaters throughout the United States.
