- Story Text: Security was tight in Islamabad on Thursday (April 26) with hundreds of policemen and security personnel posted around Pakistan's Supreme Court ahead of a ruling against Pakistani Prime Minister Yusaf Raza Gilani.
Judges were poised to decide if the prime minister was in contempt of court after failing to pursue corruption charges against President Asif Ali Zardari as instructed by the court.
Three military helicopters hovered overhead before the prime minister's arrival.
Crowds of cabinet members and supporters, chanting slogans, showered Gilani with rose petals as he walked from his car to the court.
A short time later Gilani was found guilty of contempt "for wilfully flouting the direction of the Supreme Court," said Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk.
The Supreme Court gave him only a symbolic sentence of a few minutes' detention in the courtroom. He will receive no jail time. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
