- Story Text: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived at the Chancellor's office in Berlin on Thursday (December 6) for talks with the German leader Angela Merkel.
Netanyahu and Merkel held a working dinner already on Wednesday (December 5) evening after his arrival in the German capital, and Thursday's visit was to include a signing of agreements and a news conference after talks between the two governments.
Netanyahu's visit comes as Israel moves ahead with plans to building 3,000 settler homes in one of the most sensitive areas of the West bank. The plans, which are expected to be at the forefront of talks in Berlin, have been massively criticised.
Israel announced the talks a day after the U.N. General Assembly voted in favour of the de facto recognition of Palestinian statehood. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
