- Story Text: Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong met Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao in Beijing on Thursday (September 6).
Wen held a welcome ceremony for Lee in the Great Hall of the People before the two men sat down for talks.
Lee arrived in Chengdu, the provincial capital of southwest Sichuan province, on Sunday (September 2), kicking off a six-day state visit to the world's second largest economy.
In Sichuan, Lee toured a site of the 2008 earthquake that killed nearly 90,000 people, and paid homage to the victims, according to China's official Xinhua news agency.
The two countries are strong trading partners and bilateral trade grew by 11.2 percent year on year to 63.5 billion U.S. dollars in 2011, according to Chinese official statistics.
