China captured an amazing 24 gold medals in the Asian athletics competitions which ended in Kuala Lumpur Wednesday (October 23).
It also scooped up 11 silvers and two bronze for a total of 37, far ahead of Japan, which placed second, with four gold, seven silver and 12 bronze.
On Tuesday (October 22), Shiny Wilson of India won the 400 metre women's final at 53.46 seconds followed by Taiwan's Hsu Pei Chin at 53.50 and India's K. Saramma at 53.51.
In the men's final, Qatar's Ibrahim Ismail took the gold with a time of 45.66 seconds, Thailand's Aktawat Skoolchan placed second at 46.52 and Japan's Koji Ito third at 46.64.
In the 4 x 400 metre women's final, China won the event at 43.41, Thailand was second at 44.86 and Japan third at 45.25. On Wednesday (October 23) China's Chen Zhaojing captured the women's 200 metre final with a time of 23.39, Taiwan's Wang Huei-chen was second at 23.44 and China's Ziao Yehua third at 23.48.
In the men's 200 metre final, China's Zhao Cun Clin took the event in 20.57, Qatar's Rahim Ismail placed second at 20.96 and Japan's Hiroki Fuwa third at 21.00.
