- Story Text: Competitors are preparing for this weekend's downhill
ski races for men and women at St Anton.
Daron Rahleves of the USA spoke on Wednesday (January
31) about his win in the Super-G, and Hermann Maier of
Austria, the world champion, spoke about how he came to terms
with defeat. Maier and Stephan Eberharter of Austria were
looking forward to Saturday's race, while Rahleves said he
thought he might spring a surprise and reach the podium in the
downhill.
The women's competitors had been training for their race on
Sunday with Melanie Turgeon of Canada the quickest, followed
by Isolde Kostner of Italy.
