- Story Text: French Police on Thursday (November 1) threw a ring of steel around the school in Toulouse ahead of a visit there by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to commemorate the slaying there last March of four people by an al Qaeda-ins pired gunman.
Roadblocks were put up to seal off the school and riot police were drafted in, as sniffer dogs were deployed to try and detect any explosives. Netanyahu was expected to be accompanied by French President Francois Hollande at a 1230 GMT ceremony to commemorate the three children and their teacher who were gunned down by Mohamed Merah, whom police said was a self-radicalised militant.
Merah died under a hail of police bullets after a 30-hour siege on March 22, bringing to an end a killing spree during which he gunned down seven people in three separate incidents. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
