- Story Text: South Korea' defence ministry said on Monday (May 22) North Korea appeared to have secured "meaningful data" from its latest missile test on Sunday (May 21), when it launched an intermediate-range ballistic missile.
The defence ministry added further verification was needed to determine whether the North had mastered the re-entry technology for missile warheads that it has claimed.
The South Korean unification ministry said it will strongly respond to provocative actions by North Korea but it will be flexible in handling civilian inter-Korean exchange as it believes cutting the relationship won't help stability on the divided peninsula.
The North's KCNA news agency said on Monday leader Kim Jong Un supervised the test which also verified the functioning of the solid-fuel engine for the Pukguksong-2 missile and ordered it for deployment in field action. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
