- Summary: SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA (MAY 24, 2017) (REUTERS) LIVERPOOL F.C. MANAGER JUERGEN KLOPP ARRIVING FOR NEWS CONFERENCE (SOUNDBITE) (English) LIVERPOOL F.C. MANAGER, JUERGEN KLOPP, SAYING: "I had no idea actually how we would come to this game because it was really - even for me, I never did it - fly pretty much 24 hours, go to the hotel, then we had nothing really to do. Then you get tired, or not, some of us tried to sleep and then you come here and drive another one (hour) 45 (minutes) or something from the hotel to the.... it was the most intense football trip for an away-game I've ever had. So I had no idea how the players would do it, then I was surprised how (they did).... Obviously I enjoyed the game." WHITE FLASH (SOUNDBITE) (English) LIVERPOOL F.C. MANAGER, JUERGEN KLOPP, SAYING: "I wish they were tomorrow, but unfortunately that's never really likely. So, yeah, sometimes the best scenario is always you have them at the start of the pre-season, and I'm not sure if it will happen this time will all the different players, so we will see. But that's not even a big problem because we - you all know - when we are fit and healthy, our players, and we have a really, really strong squad. And that means we could even start with the squad and bring in the players later, but that doesn't mean I would prefer this - I would love to have them as soon as possible in but we will see." WHITE FLASH (SOUNDBITE) (English) LIVERPOOL F.C. MANAGER, JUERGEN KLOPP, SAYING: "The second balls, if you want, after set-pieces, another defensive midfielder. We've not really been around this situation so it doesn't help a lot. Half-spaces after when counter-pressing doesn't work, another defensive midfield player, that's not about this, that's all about organisation. But we did already much better in the last few games and that's how it is, and we've improved around set-pieces a lot." KLOPP LEAVING NEW CONFERENCE SYDNEY F.C. COACH GRAHAM ARNOLD SITTING AT TABLE FOR NEWS CONFERENCE (SOUNDBITE) (English) SYDNEY F.C. COACH, GRAHAM ARNOLD, SAYING: "You play against that type of quality, you then see it's a bit of a reality check. You know, you think okay I'm doing well but then there's still a long way to go to you get to the level of an English Premier League player, so it's a wonderful experience for all of the players. You know, it's been tough the last two weeks to keep the boys going after the grand final. But you got to give them all the credit, all the boys the credit, for going out on the pitch and doing their best."

- Story Text:Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp said on Thursday (May 25) that he's hoping to make new signings ahead of pre-season training after his team beat Sydney F.C. 3-0 during what he described as the "most intense football trip".
First-half goals by Daniel Sturridge, Alberto Moreno and Roberto Firmino secured victory over Sydney F.C. on Wednesday (May 24) just three days after Liverpool's last Premier League game of the season.
"It was the most intense football trip for an away-game I've ever had,' Klopp told reporters, referring to the 24 hour flight time and jetlag. So I had no idea how the players would do it, then I was surprised how (they did)."
Liverpool on Sunday (May 21) secured a spot in the qualifying round for Europe's most prestigious club competition which they have only played in once in the last seven seasons.
Klopp on Thursday said the best scenario would be to bring in new players before pre-season, but that he wasn't sure how possible that would be. He did rule out signing another holding midfielder, despite his team's vulnerability to opposition counter-attacks. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
