- Story Text: Moscow metro premiered 'The Silmarillion', a backstory to 'The Lord of the Rings', by English writer J.R.R. Tolkien on Saturday night (May 13).
The performance was part of the 82nd anniversary of Moscow metro programme.
The show took place on the platform of 'Business center', or Delovoy center as it is called in Russian, station.
Several hundred people attended the premiere of the show that was a mixture of opera-oratorio and dance accompanied by the presidential orchestra.
The singers were performing in the Elvish language, created by Tolkein.
The tickets for the show were distributed online among Tolkien fans and active members of Moscow metro community.
'The Silmarillion' was published after Tolkien's death and is a background to his 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy and 'The Hobbit.' - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
