INTERVIEWS WITH DT MIKE OWEN, ALL BLACK TEAMì
DOCTOR; BRIAN LOCHORE, CAMPAIGN MANAGER & HELDERì
PEREIRA, SOUTHERN SUN GROUP CHIEF OPERATINGì
EXECUTIVE re Food poisoning of the All Blacks
13.02.39 ALL BLACK TEAM DOCTOR, DR MIKE OWEN
IT CAME ON RAPIDLY THURSDAY AT 17:00 - WITHIN 5-6ì
HRS 2 THIRDS OF SQUAD AFFECTED BY VOMITING &ì
DIAHORREA We have done tests to try find out theì
cause of the illness but laboratory tests haveì
shown no source of bacteria - THAT LEAVES IT OPENì
TO CONJECTURE TO CAUSE
13.03.51 JEFF WILSON & ANDREW MEHRTENS = SEVERELYì
AFFECTED
13.04.22 I was pretty happy come Saturday morningì
that the team had made a very good physicalì
recovery from the illness the only one who wasì
possible still struggling at that stage was Jeffì
Wilson although he actually stated that he felt OKì
clearly he wasn't OK the fact that he couldn'tì
last the 80 minutes in the game and had to comeì
off because he had run out of energy butì
physically I felt the team had made a very goodì
recovery and as you are aware the impact of theì
illness on Thursday Friday caused a considerableì
disruption in the team's prepations so pobablyì
mentally it had more of an impact than physically.
13.07.24 BRIAN LOCHORE CAMPAIGN MANAGER
Probably more mentally than physically...someì
players that weren't up to scratch on Saturday...
13.08.06 REASON FOR DEFEAT? No certainly notì
within our camp. We know it was a disruptiveì
period & it did annoy us because clearly it was aì
big game & you wanted a smooth passage into it butì
certainly we haven't used it as an excuse forì
being beaten. I think we were fairly beaten on theì
day - unfortunately it took a 100 minutes to doì
it.
13.08.41 NO EVIDENCE THAT IT WAS DELIBERATEì
ATTEMPT TO POISON ALL BLACKS
13.09.24 THURSDAY'S LUNCH
13.16.50 EXT GV'S OF HOTEL
14.13.13 SOUTHERN SUN GROUP CHIEF OPERATINGì
EXECUTIVE, HELDER PEREIRA ...major concern wasì
that the All Black team was eating outside theì
hotel premises....
14.14.23 ...if the allegations are that there wasì
food poisoning & that the food poisoning wasì
contracted at the hotel, those allegations weì
would refute in the strongest of terms
14.14.52 ....if they do pursue in seriousì
allegations...we will reserve our rights to takeì
any further action but at this stage it's not ourì
intention to take it any further...
14.15.31 The allegations that any food poisoningì
contracted at the Sandton Crown Plaza, we'd sayì
most definitely unfounded! - Copyright Holder: Visnews
