01.01.21 Q: AIDS BECOMING HUGE PROBLEM IN SA - WHAT DO YOU THINK SHOULD BE DONE BEFORE THE WORLD AIDS DAY?
01.01.50 ...in Sweden we think we have the situation under control...it is a joint commitment for the whole World...
01.03.08 MBEKI Yes no the PM is correct. At the position we've taken here with regard to ensuring that the particulars of this matter the PM is raising of public education and so on and impacting on people's habits, that indeed we should continue to engage particular matter. You've heard the Minister of Health announce initiative with the private sector here to generate resources additional to government resources to make sure that we are able to reinforce this campaign. You've also seen I think in the last 2 weeks the meeting of the SADC Foreign Ministers who came here together with Rwanda & Uganda & they came exclusively to discuss this matter of Hiv AIDS and how we might respond to it. So again you know that next year the nest World Aids Conference will be held here in Durban. So there is engagement. We want to ensure that everything gets done to address this issue including the important matter of looking for a vaccine which is why the SA government voted funds for this work to be done under the auspices of the medical research council. So it's a question that we must engage & draw in everybody and the fact that you have the SADC Health Ministers meeting as I was saying, just exclusively to discuss this question, is representative of the resolve in the region also to co-operate in a very active manner in ensuring that we're able, we deal with this thing with a sort of urgency that it clearly needs.
01.05.19 Q: REGARDING CRIME & CORRUPTION - WHAT TIME FRAME DO YOU GIVE YOURSELVES TO SHOW THE PEOPLE OF SA THAT YOU'RE WORKING ON THIS?
01.09.26 ...I think progress has been made. How long to overcome the legacy of appartheid. How long will it take to overcome the legacy of rasiscm and I can't focus that...
01.09.53 ...the only thing I can say is that we'll make apsalutely certain that we'll make the necessary progress.
01.10.37 re: ISSUE ON DEFENCE MATTER
01.13.12 ...South African people in general feel that they need a Defence Force which would help making decisions on peace making/keeping on the African Continent...we are proceeding in that direction...
