- Story Text: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Thursday (June 22) the crisis in the Middle East has had an impact on world peace following a meeting with his Jordanian counterpart in Amman.
Speaking at a news conference with Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Wang described the Middle East as a "barrel bomb" before saying political dialogue is needed to resolve the conflicts in the region.
One of the aims of the Chinese official's visit to Jordan was to hold top level discussions on the latest developments in the region. Syria and its civil war was one of the issues discussed by the foreign ministers, both of whom said they wanted a resolution to the six-year-long conflict.
Safadi said at the news conference any political solution to resolve the Syrian crisis should be done with the acceptance of the Syrian people. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
