We need more economic growth, even more free trade. And we think these are the wrong sort of policies. And we want to present our alternatives. We need a different trade policy, a different climate policy. We need climate justice, meaning those countries who have so far contributed the most to global warming, must now pull their weight the most in order to do something against it." There are no possibilities to demonstrate near the summit location. That is a declaration of bankruptcy in regards to democracy." SECURITY

Attac (Association for the Taxation of Financial Transactions and Citizen's Action) protesters on Tuesday (July 4) used the media's spotlight on Hamburg to protest against what they call a 'strangulation' of the earth by the G20 leaders.
German security forces expect some 8,000 violent protesters to converge on the northern city of Hamburg this week where Chancellor Angela Merkel will host leaders of the G20 leading economies, Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere said on Tuesday.
Some 20,000 police officers will secure the July 7-8 event in Germany's second-largest city where anti-capitalist protesters are expected to riot. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
