- Story Text: Peruvian dairy farmers, ranchers and producers took matters -- and udders -- in their own hands on Wednesday (July 5). Organizers held a 'white march' to demand that Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski sign into law a bill that would prohibit Peruvian fresh milk from being cut with powdered milk from abroad.
Lawmakers at the rally in Lima said the bill had already been approved by congress, but that it was up to Kuczynski to see that it become law. Congressman Yohnny Lescano said mixing fresh milk with powdered milk lowers its nutritional value.
Organizers said over 3,000 litres of milk were distributed to members of the public who attended the rally. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
