- Story Text: South Africa will field an inexperienced XI including a stand in captain when they take on England at Lord's on Wednesday (July 5) in the first test of their summer tour.
Without their best batsman (AB de Villiers) and their best bowler (Dale Steyn), the Proteas are also missing regular skipper Faf du Plessis - who has been replaced by opener Dean Elgar - after his wife experienced a difficult birth in South Africa.
The tourists have not lost a test series in England for 20 years, winning twice and drawing once in their last three visits, and can call on the experience of Hashim Amla and Vernon Philander, as well as the explosive skills of wicketkeeper-batsman Quenton de Kock and fast bowler Kasigo Rabada.
The four-match series also features games at Trent Bridge, Old Trafford and the Oval. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
