- Story Text: Award-winning pop artist, Lady Gaga, arrived in Tokyo on Tuesday (November 1) to promote her latest album "Joanne."
Screaming fans welcomed her with banners and original artworks featuring her new record, which was titled after her middle name.
Shizuka Matsubara, who has been a fan since the singer's debut, said Gaga's songs helped her through a difficult time in life.
"I started liking her from her songs, but also, from when I went through a really tough time in high school - it was Lady Gaga's songs that helped me. Her documentary also really spoke to me and I told myself, I must keep fighting," said Matsubara.
Another fan said he was looking forward to seeing a more "human" side of the famously flamboyant star.
"She has gone back to becoming a human, so I am really looking forward to seeing her as she is, at her concert," said Takumi Nishii, a student.
Lady Gaga, who is known for her usually elaborate costumes, was relatively low-key in a black outfit with diamond straps accompanied by a bright pink hat.
"My Tokyo fans, I love you so much, I'm so happy to be here. Thank you for inviting me back. I can't wait to sing songs from my new album, Joanne," Gaga said.
"Joanne" has already topped the weekly U.S. Billboard 200 album chart, her fourth record to do so. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
