- Story Text: French fans of Ariana Grande flooded to a Paris concert hall on Wednesday (June 7) for the U.S. singer's first show of her European tour since her Manchester concert was hit by a suicide bombing that killed 22 people on May 22.
There was a heavy police presence outside Paris' AccorHotels Arena, with roads surrounding the venue blocked off to traffic hours before the event was due to start. Paris' police force confirmed that security measures were at their highest level.
Grande had suspended the tour for her new album 'Dangerous Woman' after the Manchester Arena attack killed 22 people and wounded 116, writing on Twitter at the time that she was "broken" over the tragedy adding: "I'm so, so sorry. I don't have words."
She cancelled subsequent shows before announcing her return just two weeks after the attack, to the delight of French fans.
Some young fans, including 15-year-old Lola and 16-year-old Edith from Paris, told Reuters TV they were reassured by the strong police presence, while others said they felt no fear at all following the Manchester attack and were present to show their solidarity and admiration for the 23-year-old U.S. star.
Grande is due to play in Lyon for the next stop of her 'Dangerous Woman' tour on Friday (June 9). - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
