- Story Text: Actor Colin Farrell called the Manchester suicide attack "an attack against humanity" while promoting one of his new films at the 70th Cannes Film Festival.
Speaking to Reuters on Tuesday (May 23) along with his co-star Barry Keoghan in 'The Killing of a Sacred Deer', the actor responded strongly to the attack saying:
''It's an attack against the hearts and minds and lives of innocent people. It's just diabolical and it's shocking and it's just about as ugly as it gets.''
Meanwhile American actor Josh Harnett, who has a home in London, was at first unaware of the bomb attack. After learning about it, he said:
"It's not unusual for me to hear these things that are happening around Europe these days obviously it's terrifying."
Filmmakers and fans at Cannes will hold a minute's silence on Tuesday for the victims of the Manchester bombing, condemned by the film festival's organizers as an "attack on culture, youth and joyfulness".
Meanwhile a promotional event involving Lewis Hamilton for Disney Pixar's "Cars 3" has been cancelled "in the wake of last night's tragic attack, and out of respect for the casualties and all of those impacted," according to the publicist. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
