- Summary: LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES (MAY 4, 2016) (REUTERS) ***WARNING CONTAINS FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY*** FOSTER BEING INTERVIEWED (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTRESS AND DIRECTOR, JODIE FOSTER, SAYING: "Oh I'll be scared to show it in Cannes to be sure, but the nice thing this year is there's probably more female directors there than there have been before - at least in the audience, they're all there. Now they're starting to talk about it. This film is very close to me. It's an exciting movie, it's a movie with big stars and it's released by a big studio but it's very poignant, meaningful and complicated so to bring a film that has sort of an auteur spirit but is also a general public movie, I think it's exciting." FOSTER'S WIFE, PHOTOGRAPHER ALEXANDRA HEDISON TAKING A SEAT AND TALKING TO HOLLYWOOD PUBLICIST PAT KINGSLEY FOSTER TALKING TO ACTRESS KRISTEN STEWART CAMERAS (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTRESS AND DIRECTOR, JODIE FOSTER, SAYING: "The star ceremony is something I've always thought of and dreamed of. I told my children when they asked me 'Why don't you have a star on Hollywood Boulevard?', I said I was waiting to have the opportunity to have one as a director and Sony so nicely - we love Sony - they made my dreams come true so thank you, Sony." STEWART GETS ANNOUNCED ON STAGE AND COMES TO THE PODIUM ALONGSIDE FOSTER (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTRESS, KRISTEN STEWART, SAYING: "She did everything young, she kicked Yale's ass, she won Oscars, she became a filmmaker herself, she created a family and still is just normal and cool and kind. She got a mariachi band to play at my eleventh birthday party which I thought was very very nice. She's always encompassed what I thought the prime example of where you want to be and she's been there for me and I haven't seen her in a minute so I have to thank you for that. And the fact that I could be there for you today is moving beyond a level you probably understand. And she should have had a star on the Walk of Fame when she was ten so thank you for letting me be here." STEWART AND FOSTER ON STAR ON WALK OF FAME FOSTER FLANKED BY ACTOR JACK O'CONNELL AND ACTRESS CATRIONA BALFE (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTORS CATRIONA BALFE AND JACK O'CONNELL, SAYING: Catriona Balfe: "Her knowledge of the technical side of things was something that was probably more surprising. I knew she would be a good actor's director having been an actor herself but to see her technical prowess, that was something that was really amazing." Jack O'Connell: "Yeah and considering she used to be an actor, she spent like no time in her trailer which is quite uncommon." VARIOUS OF FOSTER SIGNING FOSTER'S STAR

- Story Text: After over forty years in the entertainment industry, which have included two Oscar wins, actress and director Jodie Foster received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in a prominent spot outside the TCL Chinese Theatre.
"Well it's wonderful because it's in honor of a big career, a long career, the stuff that I've done in the past," Foster said after unveiling the star and posing for photographers. "But I think especially more as support for the exciting things I'm going to do in the future. I'm a young director. I've only made four movies so I'm looking forward to the rest of my career so it's nice to have a star on the Hollywood Boulevard that commands that," she added.
Foster has directed the film "Money Monster" starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts about a young man Kyle (Jack O'Connell) who invades a financial news live television show demanding answers about why a company's stock crashed.
Holding the presenter Lee Gates (Clooney) hostage, Kyle forces Gates and his producer (Roberts) to look into the story behind the crash with a threat of blowing up the studio.
Speaking on the podium, Foster addressed the delay in getting a star saying "The star ceremony is something I've always thought of and dreamed of. I told my children when they asked me 'Why don't you have a star on Hollywood Boulevard?', I said I was waiting to have the opportunity to have one as a director and Sony so nicely - we love Sony - they made my dreams come true so thank you, Sony."
"Money Monster" is set to have its world premiere at the Cannes film festival out of competition but in the main selection. Despite showing her previous film "Beaver" at the festival in a similar manner in 2011, Foster said "Oh I'll be scared to show it in Cannes to be sure, but the nice thing this year is there's probably more female directors there than there have been before - at least in the audience, they're all there. Now they're starting to talk about it. This film is very close to me. It's an exciting movie, it's a movie with big stars and it's released by a big studio but it's very poignant, meaningful and complicated so to bring a film that has sort of an auteur spirit but is also a general public movie, I think it's exciting."
Foster's co-star from the 2002 thriller "Panic Room", Kristen Stewart paid homage to the actress turned director, saying "She did everything young, she kicked Yale's ass, she won Oscars, she became a film maker herself, she created a family and still is just normal and cool and kind. She got a mariachi band to play at my eleventh birthday party which I thought was very very nice. She's always encompassed what I thought the prime example of where you want to be and she's been there so me and I haven't seen her in a minute so I have to thank you for that. And the fact that I could be there for you today is moving beyond a level you probably understand. And she should have had a star on the Walk of Fame when she was ten."
