So when we brought together our ideas on this dress, it ended up with what you can see tonight". PATOUILLARD, IKONOMOVA AND DELAROSE ON RUNWAY (SOUNDBITE) (French) FRENCH CHOCOLATIER, JOEL PATOUILLARD, SAYING: "The difficulties we find with a dress made of chocolate, it's always the contact with the body, which is at 37 degrees. Chocolate melts at 30 (degrees), so it is quite simple: chocolate must absolutely not touch the body." - Story Text: A fashion and gastronomy capital, Paris hosted on Thursday (October 27) a fashion show combining its two main assets as models took to the catwalk wearing "couture" dresses with a special feature: they were all partially made of chocolate.
Actresses, singers, dancers, anchorwomen and two former Miss France winners emerged in outfits reflecting the theme of this year's show: 'Back to chocolate.'
Pieces included a gladiator-style bronze dress and an embellished silver tutu dress studded with chocolates.
French chocolatier Joel Patouillard, who worked for the second year in a row with stylist Isadora Delarose, said his 2016 creation for the show was all about "shine".
Working with chocolate to create a wardrobe item does not however come without its challenges.
"The difficulties we find with a dress made of chocolate, it's always the contact with the body, which is at 37 degrees. Chocolate melts at 30 (degrees), so it is quite simple: chocolate must absolutely not touch the body," Patouillard said.
Bulgarian dancer Denitsa Ikonomova, who participated in the French version of the show "Dancing with the Stars", said the outfit is not the most comfortable of pieces.
"As a dancer we need to feel comfortable, but it was perfect for the fashion show. I still feel comfortable, I was able to do some moves, so everything is fine," she said.
The fashion show marked the opening of the 22nd annual Salon du Chocolat, which brings together chocolatiers, pastry makers and confectioners from around the world to show off their creations.
Visitors can taste truffles and giant bars of chocolate, and delight in chocolate fountains and constructions such as a chocolate Eiffel Tower.
The exhibition opens its doors to the general public on Friday (October 28), and is open until November 1. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
