- Story Text: The father of Australian shooting victim Justine Damond said on Tuesday (July 18) he is hoping for justice, after the death of his daughter - shot and killed by a police officer in Minneapolis on Saturday (July 15) - was ruled a homicide.
Police shot Damond, originally of Sydney, through the door of their patrol car as she approached them in an alley near her home, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported, citing three unnamed sources. She had apparently called the police to report a suspected sexual assault near her home.
Authorities and activists on Monday (July 17) questioned why Minneapolis police did not have their body cameras turned on during the incident. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
