- Story Text: Tens of Muslim worshippers held noon-time prayers outside Jerusalem Old City walls on Saturday (July 22), in protest against newly installed Israeli security measures at Jerusalem's holiest site.
The metal detectors were installed on Sunday following the killing of two Israeli officers in Temple Mount-Noble Sanctuary compound.
The new measures have prompted violence, with six people killed on Friday (July 21) in the bloodiest spate of Israeli-Palestinian violence for years.
Three Israelis were stabbed to death in a Jewish settlement in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, hours after three Palestinians were killed in violence during Muslim Friday prayers, held outside the shrine in protest. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
