- Story Text: Clean-up work began in several German towns after heavy rain caused floods in western parts of the country.
In the UNESCO World Heritage town of Goslar residents began sweeping out mud and debris, hoping that insurance companies would reimburse them for the loss and damage.
One resident said the water at some point was more than a metre high inside his house. It left broken furniture and spoilt food in its wake.
The "one thousand year old imperial city in the Harz mountains", as it is called on the town's website, thanked its rescue services and citizens for their efforts in the fight against the floods. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
