- Story Text: After days of heavy rain which led to overflowing rivers, parts of northwestern Germany were still hit by floods on Friday (July 28).
In Wolfenbuettel in the state of Lower Saxony, entire streets were submerged in water.
Parking signs outside the local school were almost completely submerged in water as one resident said she was still too "agitated" to think about the extent of the damage.
In Sarstedt south of Hanover meanwhile, firefighters were busy piling sandbags along and near the river Innerste to brace for any flooding. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
