- Story Text: Mexico will host the second round of talks to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) around September 10, Mexican Economy Minister Ildefonso Guajardo told reporters on Wednesday (August 2) as he introduced the team that will represent Mexico with the United States and Canada.
Kenneth Smith, a veteran Mexican trade policy expert who currently serves as director of the NAFTA Office at the Mexican embassy in Washington, will be Mexico's chief negotiator for the high-stakes talks set to begin next month.
The first round of trade talks between the United States, Mexico and Canada on NAFTA, will begin on August 16 in Washington.
