- Story Text: Protesters in Nigeria's capital Abuja took to the streets on Monday (August 7) to protest against president Muhammadu Buhari's long absence from the job.
It's been three months since the president left Nigeria for medical leave in Britain and resentment is growing across the country.
Dozens of protesters marched to the presidential villa in the country's capital on Monday, chanting and holding signs with a simple message: "Resume or resign - Nigerians say enough is enough."
The president is on his second medical leave so far this year, the majority of which he has spent being treated for an undisclosed ailment in London.
A thin-looking Buhari was last seen in Nigeria on state television in May welcoming a group of 82 Chibok girls released by Islamist militant group Boko Haram, just hours before he flew to Britain to begin his medical leave. - Copyright Holder: FILE REUTERS (CAN SELL)
