- Story Text: A group of German sand artists are hoping to learn from last year's mistakes as they make a second attempt to break the record for the world's tallest sandcastle.
Over the next few weeks, the group will turn blocks of sand into a giant sandcastle in an attempt to enter the Guinness Book of World Records. The current record was set by an Indian artist in February and stands at an incredible 14.84 metres.
Last September, the German group managed to build a sandcastle measuring 14.15 metres, which would have broken world the record at the time. However, their attempt wasn't allowed into the Guinness Book for technical reasons. That was because part of the sandcastle collapsed during construction, and judges couldn't be sure that pieces of wood used in the construction process weren't left inside the castle. The rules state that the sandcastle can only consist of sand and water.
The group will present their latest attempt to judges on September 1. - Copyright Holder: FILE REUTERS (CAN SELL)
