- Story Text: A young Kenyan girl was shot dead by police during operations to quell protests against the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta, a witness said on Saturday (August 12).
"The girl was hit by a stray bullet while she was on a balcony as police were firing sporadic shots," a witness called Eric told Reuters.
Violence erupted after Uhuru Kenyatta was confirmed as President on Friday (August 11).
On Saturday morning one resident said youths looted stalls which they also used as barricades. Some stalls were still smouldering from the night before and police were said to have fired tear gas at protesters who were throwing stones. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
