- Story Text: A Venezuelan court summoned Lilian Tintori, wife of opposition leader Leopoldo Lopez, on Friday (September 1) for a hearing related to a seizure of a large sum of cash from a vehicle she owns.
The notice, which was accessed by Reuters, indicates that Tintori must appear in a Caracas court on September 5.
Tintori spoke out about the summons on Twitter and where she said "it is not a crime to have cash on your property."
Authorities seized some 200 million bolivares (some $12,000 US) stacked inside wooden boxes from the vehicle.
Tintori said the money was intended to pay for the medical expenses of her 100-year-old grandmother who has been hospitalized in recent days. - Copyright Holder: FILE REUTERS (CAN SELL)
