- Story Text:Carrying whatever they can and those who are not well enough to travel, more Rohingya Muslims from Myanmar made their way to Bangladesh on Wednesday(September 6), saying they were forced to leave their homes to escape violence.
Reuters reporters in the Cox's Bazar region saw thousands of newly-arrived Rohingyas families making their way inland after crossing the Naf river bordering Myanmar.
The World Food Programme (WFP) has said the number of refugees arriving in Bangladesh from Myanmar's Rakhine state since militant attacks there on Aug. 25 could reach up to 300,000.
The surge of refugees, many sick or wounded, has strained the resources of aid agencies and communities helping hundreds of thousands from previous violence in Myanmar. Many have no shelter, and aid agencies are racing to provide water, sanitation and food. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
