I mean the danger is, essentially you're in a room with blue carpet everywhere and there are a lot of people wearing blue one-piece suits made out of spandex and you can't see their faces. So, it's hard to concentrate and take it seriously. And then there's Johnny Depp there and Anne Hathaway and I'm just name-dropping now. I don't know what I'm talking about. Yes. Did I go mad? Yeah." - Story Text:Comedian and actor Sacha Baron Cohen joked about Johnny Depp's recent run-in with Australian authorities when his wife Amber Heard sneaked two pets dogs into the country.
Cohen was speaking ahead of the release of his latest film "Alice Through The Looking Glass", which also stars Depp as the Mad Hatter.
"And dogs. He has one of the biggest pet smuggling rings in the world. He stuffs them into his private jet. He literally has thousands of these poor bloody dogs crammed into his jets and he has about 300 of these jets flying animals to and from Australia, where they're slaughtered and skinned and turned into the covering for koala bears," said Cohen, who appears in the film as the villainous Time.
Following 2010's box office smash hit "Alice in Wonderland", "Alice Through The Looking Glass" sees Alice embark on another perilous adventure in the whimsical fantasy land.
Australian actress Mia Wasikowska returns as the titular heroine, who finds herself rushing to reunite the Mad Hatter and his family, while also battling the Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter) and a new villain called Time (Sacha Baron Cohen).
"I think she's just spent two years just travelling the world as the captain of a ship and she's very empowered and very much knows who she is and more sure of herself and she comes back to England and is really surprised to see how low expectations of her are. And the fact that she holds onto the belief that she's worth more than that is really fantastic and she really fights to do what she loves. That's really wonderful," said Wasikowska.
Lewis Carroll's iconic books were published over 140 years ago but continue to delight generations of children and literature fans.
Veteran Hollywood director Tim Burton returns after directing 2010's 'Alice in Wonderland', but he is acting as an executive producer to James Bobin on the latest film.
"I tried to just say, listen if there's anything you need I've been through it. If there's any advice, support, this, that, anything, you know, whatever you need. But, you know, I sort of use my own experience into that sort of thing and it's like I want to be helpful but not be another a really annoying presence. So, I just tried to, whenever needed, to say what I felt and give whatever advice," said Burton.
