- Story Text: Group of Seven finance ministers and central bank governors kicked off their main meetings on Friday evening (May 20), in Sendai, Japan.
The summit began with a welcoming reception hosted by Japanese Finance Minister, Taro Aso, and Bank of Japan President, Haruhiko Kuroda, on Thursday (May 19), followed by a symposium early Friday (May 20), where members met with prominent academics for informal talks on way to boost the global economy.
Discussions, so far, have had participants agreeing that a so-called "Brexit" vote for Britain to exit the European Union at a referendum next month could lead to financial market unrest.
There were no demands for quick economic stimulus programs, the source said, adding that there was instead a wide recognition among the participants that structural reforms combined with appropriate investment would strengthen growth.
