But we all know the history of Manchester United and what they were able to do since then. We will probably not touch on that game because we'll treat it as something else, which it is, but again our focus will be on how we're going to try and stop this team and impose our own game going forward as well." JEDINAK BEING INTERVIEWED (SOUNDBITE) (English) MILE JEDINAK, CRYSTAL PALACE CAPTAIN, SAYING: "We're going to go in as underdogs, someone's going to be favourite, someone's going to be an underdog so we'll take that. "We've all seen what's happened this season regarding an underdog winning the league and things like that so it may just very well be the year of the underdog. "We know we're going to have to put in an almighty performance but if we can do that, like we have done throughout this cup competition, we've put in some really really good performances against some good opposition and that will be key, and we'll gain a lot of confidence from that in this game." CRYSTAL PALACE BADGE ON CLUBHOUSE (SOUNDBITE) (English) EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR, CRYSTAL PALACE STRIKER, SAYING: "For me it's beautiful to be in the FA Cup final especially with Crystal Palace. I've had a chance to play for some good clubs in England but being in the FA Cup final with Crystal Palace is even more beautiful. So we'll do everything it takes to win it. "We are the underdogs, we know that, and we are not going to run away from the fact, Manchester is a big club, Manchester has the history of winning all these sorts of trophies, Champions League. All these kinds of things, so so I think the pressure is more on Manchester United. We are just there chilling and hopefully we're going to give it a go. Our togetherness, our team spirit, can help us win that particular game." CRYSTAL PALACE BADGE (SOUNDBITE) (English) EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR, CRYSTAL PALACE STRIKER, SAYING: "This kind of opportunity doesn't come that often, so if you have a chance you have to grab it and take it. So what I can say to them is they have to take the opportunity, they should not be waiting for the next one because you don't know whan the next one is coming, it may never come. So we have a chance to take it, let's get out there, play our football and win it." CRYSTAL PALACE MANAGER ALAN PARDEW BEING INTERVIEWED PARDEW LONDON, ENGLAND, UK (MAY 19, 2016) (REUTERS) (SOUNDBITE) (English) CRYSTAL PALACE MANAGER ALAN PARDEW, ASKED ABOUT PLAYING IN 1990 FA CUP FINAL, SAYS: "Great camaraderie in that group, I hope this group has the same ongoing history as we've had. We are all close friends, it bonded us together of course. It made this club, to a degree, that cup final, and although we didn't win it it was the friendships that carried through. I would prefer those friendships carry through as winners and that is the message that I will give to my players." LONDON, ENGLAND, UK (MAY 16, 2016) (REUTERS) CRYSTAL PALACE TRAINING GROUND

- Story Text: Crystal Palace, who finished the Premier League five points above the relegation zone, are in FA Cup final for the first time since losing in the 1990 final - and will be facing the same opponent in Manchester United.
The 1990 game went to a replay as the first final ended as a 3-3 draw. Palace lost the replay 1-0 to Manchester United.
The current Crystal Palace squad have a special insight into those matches because their manager Alan Pardew was one of the Crystal Palace players involved.
However the present Crystal Palace captain, Australia's Mile Jedinak, regards the 1990 result as interesting but history, with no bearing on Saturday's (May 21) game.
"A lot of time has passed since then, it's coincidental that it's the two same teams. But we all know the history of Manchester United and what they were able to do since then. We will probably not touch on that game because we'll treat it as something else, which it is, but again our focus will be on how we're going to try and stop this team and impose our own game going forward as well," Jedinak said at the team's training ground on Monday (May 16).
The Australian said that he hopes that underdogs Palace can draw inspiration from Leicester City's surprise Premier League title win.
"We've all seen what's happened this season regarding an underdog winning the league and things like that, so it may just very well be the year of the underdog.
"We know we're going to have to put in an almighty performance but if we can do that, like we have done throughout this cup competition, we've put in some really really good performances against some good opposition and that will be key, and we'll gain a lot of confidence from that in this game."
Much travelled striker Emmanuel Adebayor said that Palace can play without pressure as they have nothing to lose.
"We are the underdogs, we know that, and we are not going to run away from the fact. Manchester is a big club, Manchester has the history of winning all these sorts of trophies, Champions League. All these kinds of things, so so I think the pressure is more on Manchester United. We are just there chilling and hopefully we're going to give it a go. Our togetherness, our team spirit, can help us win that particular game," he said, adding that the young players in the Palace side should make the most of playing in a cup final at Wembley.
"This kind of opportunity doesn't come that often, so if you have a chance you have to grab it and take it. So what I can say to them is they have to take the opportunity, they should not be waiting for the next one because you don't know whan the next one is coming, it may never come. So we have a chance to take it, let's get out there, play our football and win it."
Pardew told reporters on Thursday (May 19) that he was grateful for the friendships that came out of the 1990 cup final but he would change one thing - the result.
"Great camaraderie in that group, I hope this group has the same ongoing history as we've had," he said. "We are all close friends, it bonded us together of course. It made this club, to a degree, that cup final, and although we didn't win it it was the friendships that carried through. I prefer those friendships carry through as winners and that is the message that I will give to my players." - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
