- Story Text: Bolivian President Evo Morales received a warm welcome from Cuban leader Raul Castro to Havana on Friday (May 20) during an official visit to the Caribbean nation, as the two leftist leaders seek to broaden bilateral relations.
Shortly after his arrival at the Cuban capital, Morales was awarded the nation's highest honour, the Order of Jose Marti.
Over the years, Morales has shown himself to be an ally for Havana with the Bolivian leader often echoing the sentiments of Raul Castro in speaking out against the U.S. embargo of Cuba.
Morales' visit to Cuba comes amidst tough times for Latin America's left, Argentine ally Cristina Fernandez's centre-left party was voted out of office, Dilma Rousseff from Brazil's Workers' Party was impeached and Venezuela's socialist leader Nicolas Maduro fights a recall referendum to unseat him from power. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
