- Story Text: Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday (May 18) met with Indonesian President Joko Widodo in the Black sea resort of Sochi.
Widodo arrived in Russia for the Russia-ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) summit.
Putin said the meeting was a chance to discuss the bilateral relations between the two countries.
"Taking into consideration the processes that take place in the world economy, we had a decrease of the commodity turnover last year. But this year this trend is changing," Putin added.
Widodo said his country wanted the export of palm oil from Indonesia into Russia - which currently equals $480 billion - to grow.
"I hope that the policy of Your Excellency will continue so that the export of the palm oil will increase in the nearest future," Widodo said.
Putin and Widodo were expected to sign deals to supply unspecified arms and for ammunition to be manufactured under license, Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters earlier this week. - Copyright Holder: POOL (CAN SELL)
