- Story Text: Mexican singer and actress Gloria Trevi opened up to a select group of fans during a discussion about her new album, "El Amor," on Thursday (August 6) night at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles.
During the event, Trevi shared stories about the recording process of the new album and how it helped save her six-year marriage with husband Armando Gomez.
"The day I was filming the DVD, you see that a tear comes out. That day I had spoken with the lawyer to request the paperwork, it honestly was at a very difficult moment, but God knows why things happen that way. I was able to clarify things with my husband because there were misunderstandings and believe me, what you saw in "A Toda Gloria" has nothing to do, he spit on my boyfriend and now he is just being very, very nice, thank God," said the 47-year-old singer.
Her new album and DVD "El Amor" is produced by GRAMMY award winning producer Humberto Gatica, who also talked about the recording process.
Trevi said when it came to finding a producer for the album, there was only one choice.
"When I thought big band, when I thought orchestra, when I thought that, I said I want the biggest, I want the most bad-ass, the specialist of huge songs," said Trevi of Gatica.
The producer also talked about the process of selecting the songs and how much he enjoyed working with Trevi.
According to Trevi, the album portrays the way she loves, and the way she wants to be loved.
It features re-interpretations of some of Latin music's timeless hits, such as "Como Yo Te Amo".
Trevi has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide and released 13 albums. Her "El Amor World Tour" will kick off in the Greek Theater of Los Angeles, California on August 21.
The panel discussion was moderated by Leila Cobo, director of Latin content and programming for Billboard. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
