It was the Snowy Mountain scheme - a vast hydro-electric power complex which involved changing the course of the Snowy River to make it flow into the Murray River. And this meant driving a series of huge tunnels through the Snowy Mountain and shifting millions of tons of solid rock. NOTE: Date is approximate.
