- Story Text: Mitsubishi Motors Corp. said on Wednesday (May 11) that improper data for mileage calculations might have been used for other models in addition to those it has already disclosed.
These were part of the findings Mitsubishi Motors Corp. submitted in an additional report requested by the Transport Ministry.
"According to the hearing results, there are suspicions on nine other models currently on the market along with other models off the market, of being subject to improper calculations regarding its driving resistance, and for RVR (Mitsubishi Motors Compact SUV model) there are suspicions of improper calculations, so the data backing the results along with how it came to be will be announced separately," Chief Operating Officer Tetsuro Aikawa told reporters after CEO and Chairman Masuko Osamu apologised for the misinformation in front of a news conference at the Transport Ministry packed with journalists.
Mitsubishi Motors last month admitted to overstating the fuel economy readings in four of its mini-vehicle models.
The transport ministry demanded a further explanation from Mitsubishi by Wednesday after its investigation into the company over the falsified mileage readings showed data irregularities with additional vehicles. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
