There is an institute in London who produces every year an analysis of monies spent in armaments. The last copy of this story that I read was presented to Congress in the United States last year by September or so and I found one hundred and ninety thousand million dollars -- you call it, in English, billions, I think. That is enormous, in my opinion, and as you perhaps know, in the speech made by the president here, he spoke of two hundred billions for this year. If one part of this money which is spent in armaments, most of them or at least some of them useless, because something that are sold by the important countries to the developing countries are always second-class armament that are already obsolete, so this is something that human beings have to take care of it. We would like to have real peace, instead of hunger." MRS. ALDABA-LIM: "I was very impressed with the universal concern from the status of women in this...... I don't mean this committee.... but I suppose, as you will find, in the other committees as well as the work plan of action. There was unanimous concern that self-determination of women and the general improvement of their status, was one of the most effective means of promoting responsible parenthood. The view prevails that highest priorities should be accorded to the development and legal measures that will assure the women to fully realise their highest potentials... not only in their roles, even in the various economic society in the professions, in their occupations -- in other words, there is a very strong plea in the Committee Report about elevating women and using women -- thus far, at this point, one of the greatest wealths, especially in poor countries which have never been utilised to the fullest."
