- Story Text:While many Israel families still suffer the anguish of not knowing if their husbands and sons are dead or prisoners-of-war, the press is being given the opportunity of seeing and talking to some of the men captured during the war.
In Cairo on Thursday at a Military Hospital, cameramen and reporters were permitted to talk with several captured Israeli Air Force pilots.
According to an Israeli spokesman, Egypt has provided the names of only 113 of the 330-odd Israelis believed held by the Egyptians hands.
Some of the hospitalised captured Israelis commented on their treatment and how they came to fall into Egyptian hands.
SYNOPSIS: While many Israeli facilities still suffer the ???uish of ??? knowing whether ???ons and husbands are dead or ???-of-war, in Cairo on Thursday the press were given another opportunity to talk to captured Israelis. In this Military Hospital world, the wounded are mainly injured Israeli Air Force pilots.
According to the Israelis, Egypt has provided the names of only one-hundred-and-thirteen captured men out of the three-hundred-and-thirty-odd believed to be in Egyptian hands. One pilot was asked about how he was being treated:
This flier had been downed in the area south of the Suez Canal. The events leading to their capture were hazy memories for some of the men. Others could recall noting at all after their 'planes had been hit.
As the Israelis and Arabs hopefully near a solutions to the current hostilities, prisoners-of-war from both sides can only wait and hope it will not be long before they are returned to their homes. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS - SOURCE TO BE VERIFIED
