- Story Text: The Eifman Ballet of St. Petersburg celebrates the 20th anniversary of its New York City debut with performances at Lincoln Center.
The company is making its first ever appearance at the David Koch theater with its hit production, "Anna Karenina" by Boris Eifman.
Dancer Oleg Gabyshev portrays Vronsky and said he hopes dance expresses the world's commonalities.
"Art should be separate from politics. But at the same time it should make closer and cool down the passions that exist namely in the political world," he said.
Veteran ballerina Maria Abashova, said the part of Anna is one of her favorite roles and being in New York gives her an extra boost.
"I really love New York because dancing in the city simply gives you energy. And I really like the public, they're always receptive to what we're showing them."
Performances will take place April 6-8. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
