- Story Text: South Korean actress Choi Eun-hee, who was abducted by the Pyongyang regime, died on Tuesday (April 17) as a result of a chronic disease at age 91, Choi's family said.
Mourners laid flowers at Choi's funeral and her son Sheen Jeong-Kyun said he hoped people remember her legacy of films.
Choi and her husband Shin Sang-ok, a movie director who passed away in 2006, were captured by North Korea in 1978 and were ordered to make 17 films during their forced stay by North Korean late leader Kim Jong Il.
Choi had previously said that Kim, who was famous for being a cinephile, owned more than 10,000 movies. His collection included South Korean movies and was for his own entertainment.
She managed to escape from North Korea in 1986. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
