I was raised by singing and listening to my father's songs. So, for me singing is living, just living. But the thing to be famous like I am a little bit in France is that it opens all the doors and you can maybe reach your dreams that when I was a child I couldn't reach." And I ask myself the question why. I don't know, I don't know the answer. Perhaps we will know the answer soon. But it's strange that there are plenty of Italians who have had careers here (in the UK), and Germans and Spanish but not French. Perhaps it's to do with the repertoire. I don't know." VARIOUS OF NICLO BEING INTERVIEWED PAINTING AND BOOKS (SOUNDBITE) (French) SINGER, VINCENT NICLO, SAYING: "You know for me to progress, it's not about being a celebrity but to be famous is something fantastic because it allows you to work with the best people. And that's what interests me. Because when I started in France I watched the stars on the TV and I said wow and I said if I could just approach them and I didn't even think of working with them. And today to duet with these people, well one day I could, it's possible. Now I have arrived in London it's not about "I did a duet with Charles Aznavour" or other French stars. Now I can actually dream, even if it never happens, of one day doing a duet with Shirley Bassey or George Michael - why not."

- Story Text:Popular French singer Vincent Niclo is aiming to replicate the success of legendary star Charles Aznavour with the release of his new album 'Romantique' in the spring, but he admits having cross-Channel appeal isn't easy.
The 41-year-old has sold more than a million albums to date and has headlined sold-out arenas in France.
Signed to Sony UK and being marketed as the New Voice of Romance, on a visit to London, and speaking in the famous L'Escargot French restaurant, the Parisian said he will have his work cut out to succeed in the UK.
"Since Sacha Distel it's been about 40 years and Charles Aznavour who had a big career, there's haven't been many French (singers). And I ask myself the question why. I don't know, I don't know the answer. Perhaps we will know the answer soon. But it's strange that there are plenty of Italians who have had careers here (in the UK), and Germans and Spanish but not French. Perhaps it's to do with the repertoire. I don't know," he said.
Niclo has appeared by personal invitation with Celine Dion in a series of sold-out concerts, and said the Canadian star was a joy to work with.
"I understand now why she's such a superstar because she is supertalented for sure but she's also a super human being, she's a big star, she's really nice to people," he said.
Coming from a poor family, Niclo supported his vocal studies by walking the catwalk as a model in Thierry Mugler shows, but received support from his musical father.
"My father is a singer. I was raised by singing and listening to my father's songs. So for me singing is living, just living. But the thing to be famous like I am a little bit in France is that it opens all the doors and you can maybe reach your dreams that when I was a child I couldn't reach," he said.
Niclo, who has collabarated with the likes of Aznavour and Placido Domingo, will release his album 'Romantique' in the UK in May. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
