Summary:South Vietnam was still a fairly remote theatre of operations in August 1965, from which communiqus talked of a South Vietnamese victory over the invading Communists from the north. These pictures showed a South Vietnamese operation 650 miles north-east of Saigon, as ARVN Marines recaptured the strategically important base at Duc Tho, after it had been besieged for 68 days by North Vietnamese forces.
