- Story Text:In what is shaping up as a heavyweight title fight for the senior's division, American James "Bonecrusher" Smith and "Aussie" Joe Bugner are preparing to slug it out in Australia for the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) heavyweight title. The weigh-in for was held on Friday (July 3) on Australia's Gold Coast for the fight on Saturday (July 4). At 45 and 48 respectively, the WBF title fight between Smith and Bugner is a real battle of the oldies. On arrival on Wednesday (July 1), Smith questioned whether the two ageing heavyweights still had the strength to knock each other out. But at the weigh-in on Friday, both fighters were raring to go. Bugner, the Hungarian-born former British and European champion who now fights as an Australian, said he was looking forward to his second shot at a world title 23 years after losing out to Muhammad Ali. Smith, who lost the World Boxing Association title to Mike Tyson in 1987, was also confident after spending seven weeks in a camp preparing for the fight.
