Summary:Some of the earliest pictures of American combat troops in action in South Vietnam showed elements of the First Infantry Division deployed against Viet Cong units in the vicinity of Phuoc Vin. It was described as a search mission, during which the Americans were airlifted in and out of the area by helicopter.
