- Story Text: Actor Tom Cruise described a stunt in his new film "Mission: Impossible - Fallout", where he leaps from a military plane at 25,000 feet (7,620 metres), as "very challenging" on Wednesday (August 29) at Beijing's premiere of the film.
Cruise said the sequence took 106 skydives to complete, with equipment signed off by the Royal Air Force "to make sure that it didn't catch fire."
The film, which is the sixth instalment of the spy movie franchise, tells the story of a mission gone wrong. Agent Ethan Hunt, played by Cruise, is hunted by assassins and former allies as he races against time to prevent a terrorist organisation from provoking a global catastrophe.
Cruise, who is known for doing his own stunts, also races a motorbike helmet-less through oncoming traffic round Paris' Arc de Triomphe and pilots a helicopter though mountain ravines in Kashmir.
The film opens in China on August 31. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
